Bargain hunters get ready to visit 500-plus addresses in ‘Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’

Bargain hunters will have the chance to flock to more than 500 garage sales across Worcestershire on Saturday 8 June, thanks to local estate agency Nicol & Co.

The “Big Worcestershire Garage Sale” is thought to be one of the world’s biggest ever, with only the state of Tennessee in the USA known to be regularly holding larger ones.

The mass community event is taking place at multiple addresses on a total of 119 streets in Droitwich, Worcester, Malvern and the surrounding areas, with tens of thousands of visitors expected to be picking up bargains.

The number of streets signed up is now over 160% more than the 45 that took part last year when Nicol & Co launched the original Big Worcestershire Garage Sale.

Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, said: “We are genuinely staggered at the number of streets that have signed up to take part in this community event across Worcestershire.

“Those who took part last year enjoyed a wonderful day, both as households holding their garage sales and as bargain hunters excited by this access to such a rich variety of items that they wanted to buy.

“After the success and feedback last year, we were hoping for an even bigger and better event for 2024 but never imagined that we would double the numbers involved, let alone reach an increase of 164% in streets registered.

“Once again, the Big Worcestershire Garage Sale will see homeowners across the county simultaneously decluttering their homes and selling unwanted items.

“The main purpose of organising this event is to bring the community together, to support people in getting rid of items in a sustainable way, and to make some money in the process.

“This huge number of streets signing up for the event will offer bargain hunters such a great opportunity to find items they want to buy.”

Nicol & Co has created a digital map to make it easy for visitors to locate the streets taking part. The map is available here: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1221DBz_iIYFgg87jyONXxTudm10tfW4&usp=sharing
