Cheers! Principle to look after more than 100 homes at old brewery site in Bristol

The site of an old brewery in Bristol that has been transformed into more than 100 new homes, co-working space and retail units is to be looked after by Principle Estate Management.

The contract to manage the 107 residential units and 18,000 sq ft of commercial areas at The Old Brewery on North Street, Southville has come from Abri Housing Association, one of the south’s largest housing providers.

Joe Jobson, joint managing director of Principle, explained how the development had been created in a joint venture by Change Real Estate and Cannon Family Office, which was then purchased by Abri.

Mr Jobson said: “We are really excited to have been contracted to look after The Old Brewery development, which has been created with seven distinct buildings, three new and four conversions to retained buildings, around a central courtyard.

“The result is smart, new-build residential blocks that complement the site’s existing character through the use of retained facades and existing buildings.

“We have already supported and advised Abri on the ongoing management of the development, including putting together budgets, reviewing operating and maintenance manuals, issuing service contracts and carrying out a full onsite inspection.

“We are now looking forward to working closely with Abri and their customers to make The Old Brewery a fantastic place to live, work and enjoy, making a difference every day to people’s lives.”

Principle already manages a number of other schemes in Bristol, including two other sites for Abri, and so The Old Brewery development continues their expansion into the south-west.

Sean Gill at Abri, said: “The Old Brewery reflects the rich industrial heritage of the site, creating new homes, providing employment space in the form of flexible co-working opportunities, and preserving buildings of historical interest.

“The new homes will be providing much-needed affordable housing in the city, and we want to make sure that our customers have the best experience and support in their new homes.

“It was therefore important to us to contract a managing agent with the right experience and, having worked with Principle for several years, we are confident that they will deliver great service to our customers and help them to thrive in their new homes.”

Launched in 2018, Principle has since grown into what is now more than 60 staff looking after a portfolio of more than 11,500 units at around 325 developments across the UK.
