Paul Bassi commended for business contribution by Sikh community

Birmingham financier Paul Bassi CBE has been commended for his contribution to business by the Sikh community at a special presentation at City Hall in London.

The event was to mark the 550th celebration of Guru Nanak and was co-hosted by the Sikh Network, Sikh Federation (UK) and Dr Onkar Sahota, member of the London Assembly, in collaboration with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.

Mr Bassi, who is chief executive officer of the AIM-listed REIT, Real Estate Investors plc, and chairman of Bond Wolfe in the West Midlands, this year published “Brick by Brick – Success in Business and Life” which swiftly entered the business bestsellers list for 2019 and has been nominated for the Business Book Awards 2020 by Bloomsbury Publishing.

All of Paul’s profits from Brick by Brick: Success in Business and Life will go to The Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust.

A former High Sheriff of the West Midlands and Birmingham Chamber of Commerce past President, Paul is also a shareholder in award-winning Asha’s Restaurant (with locations in Birmingham and Solihull) and Zen Metro in Birmingham.

He established The Bond Wolfe Charitable Trust which supports many causes across the West Midlands and is a co-founder and supporter of Sandwell Valley School which supports many pupils who have missed part of their education or come to the UK without English as their first language.

He said: “Doing what you can to help within your community is part of the Sikh philosophy and whilst you do not do this to seek recognition, it is extremely humbling and gratifying to be acknowledged by your peers and colleagues in our faith and in business.”
