Savills appointed as agents as Elevate unveils luxury reimagining of former forensic science labs

One of the most eagerly anticipated new residential developments in Birmingham is to be marketed by national property agents Savills.

Priory House, the former Birmingham forensic science laboratories in Southside, is being redeveloped to create 79 luxury apartments by Elevate Property Group.

Elevate is repurposing the building in the style and aesthetic of its very successful Concord House development on Holloway Head, which featured Birmingham’s first £1 million apartment.

A show apartment which will highlight the premium residential space that Elevate is delivering throughout Priory House is set to open this autumn.

Joe Shorney, head of residential development sales at Savills Birmingham, said: “Priory House is a magnificent building which sits on the corner of Kent Street and Gooch Street North.

“The 77,000 sq ft, seven storey building, which was constructed in the 1950s, was home to the Forensic Science Service for more than 40 years before it closed in 2011.

“Elevate is committed to delivering a statement development very much in keeping with the company’s reputation for creating exceptional architectural spaces and we are delighted to have been appointed to market Priory House”.

Birmingham architects D5 have developed an imaginative scheme and contractors Bode Contracting Ltd began a 55 week, multi-million pound build in late June with completion scheduled for the third quarter of 2022.

David Hofton, sales and marketing director at Elevate, said: “Priory House is a development of 79 unique apartments, many with city skyline views, terraces and balconies. The property is ideally located close by Birmingham’s theatre district and China Town and Birmingham’s Grand Central Station is just a few minutes’ walk away.

“Working closely with the team at Savills, we anticipate strong demand from both within Birmingham and across the UK. We also expect the development to prove attractive to overseas investors with the 2022 Commonwealth Games set to cement Birmingham’s place on the map.”

In Birmingham, Elevate Property Group has built a well-deserved reputation for the quality of its developments, including Concord House, Queensway House and St Paul’s House – unique developments of townhouses, apartments, penthouses and commercial spaces.

Other projects completed by Elevate Property Group in Birmingham include Tennant Street Lofts and Assay Lofts, and sites in Cliveland Street and at Sheldon Court.

Elevate Property Group has built a reputation for quality medium rise large town and inner city residential developments.

Founded in 2011, Elevate Property Group has been responsible for some of Birmingham’s most interesting, and sometimes controversial, residential developments, always breaking new ground in terms of specification and record prices for the city.

The company currently has almost a million square feet of development either under construction or in the planning and legal process.
