Thursfields ready to help on essential house moves

Thursfields Solicitors is providing support for home buyers who, in exceptional circumstances, have no choice but to continue to complete on their purchase.

Official government advice is to delay the date of moving wherever possible, and lenders have been asked to extend their mortgage offers for up to three months.

Nick O’Hara, managing director of Thursfields Solicitors, said: “We fully support the government’s advice to stay at home and not move however, there are some exceptional circumstances where people have no choice but to continue with their plans and we are available to assist where needs must.

“Conveyancing can be conducted remotely and by using a third party provider for the required checks.”

Government advice states: “There is no need to pull out of transactions, but we all need to ensure we are following guidance to stay at home and away from others at all times…Prioritising the health of individuals and the public must be the priority.

“Where a property being moved into is vacant, then you can continue with this transaction although you should follow the guidance on home removals.

“Where the property is currently occupied, we encourage all parties to do all they can to amicably agree alternative dates to a move, for a time when it is likely that stay-at-home measures against coronavirus will no longer be in place.”

The full guidance can be found  here.

Nick O’Hara said: “If moving is unavoidable for contractual reasons and the parties are unable to reach agreement to delay, Thursfields is here to help.

“People must follow advice on staying away from other to minimise the spread of the virus, but all the legal and financial transactions can be carried out online and through telephone and video contact.

“Thursfields moved very quickly to respond to the new working from home demands on the professions, and we are fully geared up and ready to help homeowners and renters with practical advice aimed at achieving sensible solutions for all parties.”
