Thursfields Talk Legal: new vidcast series launched by Midlands law firm

One of the Midlands’ leading law firms has launched a series of remotely recorded vidcasts to help increase businesses and the wider public’s understanding of legal issues.

“Thursfields Talk Legal” is the name of the new series that will cover everything from legacy planning to matrimonial disputes, and from commercial property issues to employment law.

Each episode is planned and recorded by ASAP PR, a media agency which uses its journalistic experience to explore each theme via in-depth interviews.

Once recorded, the video episodes are being broadcast on Thursfields’ website, with links sent across the company’s social media and marketing networks.

The initiative is filmed and produced entirely online using the latest technology to avoid unnecessary contact, making sure that Thursfields conforms to the government’s social distancing guidance.

Michelle O’Hara, commercial director at Thursfields, said: “We’re always thinking of ways to widen the audience for our legal guidance, and until now have regularly held free workshops for businesses and the community.

“These have obviously paused due to COVID-19 and so we were keen to continue our outreach efforts using technology.

“Primarily, this is to increase both business and the wider public’s knowledge of a range of legal issues that are pertinent at this time.

“Seeking legal advice might be a new or daunting experience for some. Our videos feature the lawyers themselves and this will hopefully help put our clients at ease as well as inform them about the steps they may need to take if they have a legal issue.”

The first Thursfields Talk Legal episode is called “Making a Will” and involves Deborah Beal, an associate solicitor in the Wills & Estates department, explaining why Wills are needed and how to go about making them. This can be viewed here:

Each episode will last for between six and ten minutes, and others in the pipeline will be exploring divorce and finance, commercial property and corporate issues.

Andy Skinner, managing director of ASAP PR, said: “Our approach to creating stories for our clients has always been highly journalistic, making sure we produce interviews that are newsworthy so that the media wants to use them.

“These vidcasts are approached entirely in this manner – quickly asking Thursfields lawyers direct questions about legal topics to result in succinct answers that are both interesting and informative to watch.”

Mrs O’Hara added: “Our lawyers have done a fantastic job at adapting to social distancing requirements whilst still delivering a first-rate service to our clients.”
